Wireless monitoring & control · Since 2004

Wireless monitoring for the harshest places on earth.

Battery-powered sensors that deliver live pressure, temperature and alarm data from remote and hazardous sites — no cables, no mains power. Proven in the field since 2004.

What we do

Sensors that report back, wherever you put them.

We design and build wireless sensors that measure pressure, temperature, humidity and load, then deliver the readings to your screen in real time. They run for years on a single battery, form their own radio network, and keep logging even when the connection drops. When a reading crosses a threshold you set, the right person gets a text or an email. You see problems the moment they start, not days later.

Two platforms

Two radio technologies. More problems solved.

The technology should fit the problem, not the other way round.

Proprietary mesh radio

Mercury is our proprietary low-power mesh radio. Self-forming networks, long range, and certified for explosive atmospheres to ATEX Zone 0. Built for the sites nothing else reaches: wellheads, pipelines and off-grid installations.

Up to 12 years battery life, product dependent.

Bluetooth

Our newer platform, built on Bluetooth. It connects to standard devices and existing systems, deploys quickly, and covers the monitoring and control work that doesn't need Mercury's long range or hazardous-area certification.

Connects to standard devices and existing systems.

Case studies

One technology. A surprising range of problems.

If it needs measuring and there's no easy way to wire it, we've probably done something like it.

Oil & gas wellheads

Live pressure and temperature from wells with no power for miles.

Oil & gas wellheads

Solar-powered controllers with battery backup, backhauling over GPRS or satellite. Every reading is written to memory on the sensor itself, so a dropped link costs you nothing — around six weeks of logging is held onboard.

Fracking instrumentation

Real-time pressure instrumentation for hydraulic fracturing sites.

Fracking instrumentation

Sensors certified to ATEX Zone 0, IECEx and CSA. The mesh forms itself as units are placed, so the instrumentation moves with the site instead of being wired into it.

Emergency shut-in (ESIS)

Shut in a well from up to 1 km away, keeping operators upwind of danger.

Emergency shut-in (ESIS)

A self-contained system. The radio handset closes the well on a two-stage press-and-confirm over a 128-bit AES encrypted link, running on its own battery pack rated for 10 years. Built for brownfield sites already using hydraulic surface-controlled valves.

Pipeline monitoring

Gateways form their own network along the line: monitoring with no fixed infrastructure.

Pipeline monitoring

Gateways backhaul over Ethernet, serial Modbus into SCADA, GSM, or Iridium satellite — whichever the location allows. The mesh spans the run without trenching or fixed infrastructure.

Clinical cold chain (BluBug)

Continuous monitoring for blood banks, fridges and freezers, with temperature mapping, in-transit logging and an audit trail built for MHRA, FDA and CPA scrutiny. Calibration rolls on a swap-out warranty.

Lockers

Deployed in NHS hospitals, running on our Bluetooth platform. Access is managed across shift handovers, so a locker shared by two clinicians on alternating shifts is always open to whoever is on, and the bank stays secure and interconnected.

Remote & off-grid sites

Solar, GSM and satellite backhaul for sites with no power and no network.

Remote & off-grid sites

Where there is no cellular coverage at all, Iridium satellite carries the data instead. Solar panels with battery backup run the gateway, so the site needs no mains supply.

Running in the Arabian Desert since 2009.

In April 2009 we fitted wireless pressure and temperature sensors to six free-flowing wells for ADCO: remote desert sites with no power, where soft sand made cable-laying impractical. In the first six months the system captured 98.7% of the theoretical maximum data. After 11 months a sensor was removed and checked against a reference; it measured within 0.5% of its original specification, and no adjustment was needed. The system is still running.

Distribution

Built in Emsworth. Represented in 18 countries.

Our partners hold stock and know their own ground. Everywhere else is supplied direct from Emsworth, where the kit is built, calibrated and where the awkward questions land.

Wireless Measurement distribution World map drawn as a grid of dots. Countries covered by a distributor are picked out in blue. Amber marks show each office. The same information is listed as text beneath the map.

It rarely matters. Most of this kit is commissioned from Emsworth regardless, so tell us what you are monitoring and we will work the supply route out afterwards.

New distributors

The network is still growing. If you already sell instrumentation into an industry or a country we have not reached, we would rather hear from you than not. Consultancy, royalty and OEM arrangements are all possible.

Why us

The boring virtues, done properly.

Retrofit without a shutdown.

Sensors go onto plant that is already running. Fitting, maintenance and battery changes need no interruption to production.

Calibrated in our own laboratory.

UKAS-traceable certificates supplied with the sensor, from temperature-controlled baths and pressure generators in a fully automated system.

Recalibration, not replacement.

Return-to-base recalibration runs through the product’s life: physical condition checks, seal replacement and a new battery, then a fresh certificate.

Modules that swap in place.

When a battery finally goes, the module changes out inside a hazardous area without breaking the process connection.
